Colombia leads the world in avian biodiversity; it is home to 1.889 species (171 of these are unique to Colombia), or 20 % of all bird species on Earth.
Evidence of this is that during The Global Big Day, a day when experts and bird lovers try to register the greatest number of bird species seen or heard during that one day, Colombia won the title for the second time in a row as the country where most species were seen.
